It's usually the most uneducated and ignorant that make the best zealots on either side.

Maybe from that view you or others dont like the figures bastardisng it. But those beliefs and work you are referring to came from another time. Do we base all our existence on that field of work or scrap it take some good qualities from it and start anew.

Everything can be improved upon, but when good work much of which is as relevant today as it was then reduced to sound half understood quotes and soundbites, where is the progress ?

I think for the most part except extreme circumstances we all operate on a programable level most likely unbeknownst to ourselves. And it stretches very far back into time farther than the works you described. And these ways are still programmed into us but the simplicity they hitting us is way easier than they have ever been. On a relevant sidenote, I remember that movie demolition man where they eere just simply choosing to upload attributes, education, and qualities into the people. Are we leaning towards something like that? Maybe, but things change inevitable.

True, and in some way Nietzsche described it in his "will to power" Dawkins selfish Gene theory, and Freud's "pleasure principle".just aspects of human nature and how to achieve power. Once you have that power you then need to control the masses. This is where Nietzsche and Frueds work are still used today in everything from advertiseing to political speeches.

Hahah, I sound well ignorant compared to you guys. I couldn't even spell their names right. But still, I read a book about hot to construct stories, and it drew heavily upon Freud and Neitzsche, and it just sounded like gash to me. It certainly didn't seem to logically inform the ideas behind constructing story. It just seemed like wishy-washy, substancesless, hippy shit.
Codedaddy
Freud was a Motherfucker and Neitzsche loved Greek sex, but they were intellects so that didn't matter.
