Race organizers confirmed they immediately isolated and disinfected the affected area, disposing of equipment and waste in line with regulations. After the event, they replaced the carpet and ran a full deep-clean of the venue.
The incident drew complaints from athletes who say the surface was contaminated and that some slipped on it.
The competitor, Joanna Wietrzyk, has since posted "a win is a win," thanking supporters and saying she recovered quickly.
