This reportedly happened in Buffalo, NY just a couple days ago at the foot of Ferry on the Niagara river.

The story is:

Older white man collects drift wood to make furniture or carvings. He was struggling to get to that big log when the younger black man offered his assistance. As you can see from the footage, he’s not a capable swimmer. The water looks peaceful, but people don’t realize that due to the amount of water entering this narrow channel, the undercurrent runs about 15 mph.

Soon after the black man starts for the log, you can see that a tether/rope falls in after him. Obviously not long enough for his approach. He makes contact with log and starts to turn when the undercurrent starts to drag him out. He panics and starts to drown.

Older white man jumps in after him in a futile attempt to rescue the drowning black man. As good as a swimmer as the white man looks, the current and struggles of the drowning black man soon overcome him and the two of them fade under the water. Two dead that quick!

According to Best Gore member @mastersplinter, this is not far from a previous drowning several months ago. A diver for the Buffalo Police department failed to surface after going in. I believe he was found a day or two later. Officer Lehner… very dangerous stretch of water.
